Trials and Miracles

We've had a blast this past month! Emi had her first birthday and my mom was able to come out and celebrate it with us. Scott has continued to rock it at work and I have continued to balance family, work, and training, not as successfully as I would wish.

I injured my leg some how about 4 weeks ago. I had a huge bump on the side of my leg and could barley walk and could not dorsiflex my foot at all. Because of all these symptoms I was sure I had ruptured my tibialis anterior tendon at least partially tore it. I went to the doc and he thought along the same lines. He almost put me in a boot but I convinced him not to. I asked my family to fast and pray for a miracle to happen and that all would be better. I couldn't even swim because any pressure on my foot just killed. After about 4 days of prayers and fasts, my foot was literally miraculously better. It was a true miracle and a testimony builder. I know God knows how important things are to us and will help us. Sometimes we are given these trials in our lives to be able to grow closer to him and to know and understand him more.

Well two weeks after this leg incident where I took 2 weeks off running. I was out on a long bike ride and had a very high speed crash. I bounced, blacked out for a second, and rolled on the road. Thankfully there were no cars coming and no one was around me, but I had a big group of friends who came with me. Those with me were so helpful and helped me calm down and make sure I was ok. People checked me out and my bike to make sure all was fine. I had some fun road rash even though I was wearing a long sleeve jacket. My elbow, knee, and chest hurt but I thought it was just because I was bruised. I was VERY lucky to not have done more damage than I did! If anything was different, more people around me, cars coming, helmet too loose, landed differently, everything could be different now. SO SO blessed!

My first thought after I crashed was "Shoot! I have work tonight and I can't call in because I already called and asked if there was "time back" available!" Those with me told me I shouldn't go to work and after a talk with my sister (thanks) I got the courage to call and tell work that I couldn't come in because I had crashed and didn't know if I had a concussion and that I was bruised everywhere.

I then proceeded to work on Monday night and Wednesday evening. My chest wasn't feeling any better, if not worse so I scheduled an appointment with my doc on Friday. I found out that I had a broken rib! So, I had to explain to my managers how I got a broken rib and then worked two days with it but now couldn't lift. I can't be in the pool for 2 weeks in order to let it heal so that puts me 7 days out before Ironman Texas! It'll be fun!

The other day I lost my keys and couldn't find them anywhere. I was sure I left them at work and called to see if they were there. They said they couldn't find them :( Scott and I went out to a bike shop on Friday night to pick up my bike and they randomly appeared on my seat when we got back in the car from our stop at trader joes on the way! Oh the tender mercies that we have in our lives. I have NO idea how they just appeared there!

Scott's job has been great! He has loved Sogeti thus far and has been loved as well. He has many projects he's working on and his main project was extended so he has more billable hours! yay! He's also been loving his wood shop and almost has Emi's toy chest done! He also has a green thumb and planted our garden this year with delicious foods!

Scott was able to go on a caving trip with the young men at church. He had a TON of fun. They did some pretty hard core spelunking.

We were able to feed the missionaries on Easter and had all the traditional food.

Last week we had Emi's birthday! It was SO fun! we had some fun decorations and delicious food. It was a Lilo and Stitch theme. We had grilled pineapple, homemade almond butter stuffed bananas, goldfish in sand pails with a shovel for serving. We also had tuna sandwiches and PB&Js. If you are a Lilo and Stitch fan you'll understand that joke. I was going to do a cake but made cupcakes to make it easier. They were a little beach theme, I'll post pictures. We had little beach balls we hung from the ceiling and some fun hawaiian balloons etc. Way too much fun, and probably the best birthday she'll have!

got into some boxes while our backs were turned!

Baby yoga!

Attacking dad so she doesn't have to be on the grass

little Lilo with her stitch!

She went out and helped dad garden. Dad made her this mat so she didn't have to be on the grass because she hates to sit on the grass.
This is what she did to her mat! She was upset she had stranded herself on a little island!

Someone loves getting into everything! That's coconut all over the floor

Easter morning breakfast! this one was Emi's

Toy box that Scott has made! I helped paint. I'll post the final project when we're done but we showed it to Emi on her birthday.

More Baby yoga. I don't know why she likes this position. She gets into it a couple times a day!

I haven't loaded the birthday pictures yet so I will post more when I have loaded those!
